At the second break day in Nalchik, Aronian and Alekseev are leading the Grand Prix with a +2 score. Both are performed over 2800. There are only 4 games to play but anything can happen down the stretch.

In the mean time, 2008 SPICE Cup co-champion Akobian won the rapid match against 2008 US Champion Shulman. They will play a 10-game blitz match today. It’s an excellent idea by the organizer and let’s hope there’ll be many more similar type matches in the future!
It’s Saturday Open Forum. What would you like to discuss? The forum is yours.
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Susan, why has your blog team activated the moderation of the posts? I liked the way it was before, for discussion (e.g. addition or correction of posts) it was much more practicable.
In earlier times you sometimes activated it from time to time but never for a long time but now you do not seem to want to change it back!?
If there is no good reason please change it back. But I am sure, there is one – spamming/trolling maybe?
Best wishes from Germany
Jochen
Jochen,
It had to be done because there’s a group of about 5-6 people who post profanity daily to disrupt this blog. They’re doing it on purpose.
There are too many young people who read this blog and I have to protect them. It is a lot more work for me and the moderators but we have no choice.
The IPs came from the state of NY, CA and MA.
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar
Here is the new generation of the russian kingdom of chess:
Alekseev, Jakovenko, Inarkiev, Tomashevsky, Timofeev, Vitiugov and … Sasha Grischuk. Why did they send Kramnik, Moro and Svidler to Dresden?
🙂
okay from germany
Hi Susan,
I discovered this side a short time ago. It’s very interesting and manifold. I will look more often at your blog in the future.
:-))
I play in a small club in the northern of germany.
Best, Reiner

Perhaps tools can be found to block offending IP’s?
Thank you for giving the chess world your blog and your happy memories of chess, Susan.
You truly are the heart and soul of chess.
Smile!

Hello Susan,
thanks for your answer. It is a pity that some people (mis)use the anonymity of the web to post such things. Probably they wouldn’t dare to do so if we could know exactly who they are.
I cannot think of any non-destructive sense in doing so and probably there isn’t one.
Okay, seems to be nothing which can be changed now, if we are lucky it changes by itself one day as soon as they lose interest seeing their posts won’t be published any more.
Keep on the good work and do not let demoralize by silly visitors who want to destroy the communitiy here.
Best wishes
Jochen
Hey Susan, I hear that two young chessplayers earned draws with you in a recent simul! Their names are Peter and Michael Chen if I’m not mistaken–Chinese brothers. I happen to be acquainted with them and wondered if you could post photos or something from the event.
Thanks.
