The International Chess Festival “Saint Petersburg summer – 2014″ is held from 21st August to 1st September 2014 at Park Hotel Krestovskiy in Saint Petersburg, the second largest city in Russia.
The Festival is split into many tournaments:
Tournament A – Rapid Tournament with a hefty prize fund in the amount of 550.000 RUB (nearly 11.500 €)
Tournament B – Amateur Tournament for players rated below 2351
Tournament C – Blitz Tournament for children born 2000 and later
Tournament D – Children Festival split separated into two sections (Children under 11 and Children under 15)
Tournament E – Seniors rapid tournament for players born 1954 and earlier (female players born 1959 and earlier)
Tournament F – Blitz Marathon with a time control 3′ + 2″ and expected number of rounds 50
Tournament G – 11-round Swiss Blitz tournament
Tournament H – Chess 960 Tournament
Tournament I – Problem solving cmpetition
Tournament J – Blitz Team Tournament
Tournament K – Bughouse Team Tournament
In addition, the festival provides a simultaneous exhibition and lecture by GM.
The preliminary list of players consists of 277 players, including 4 GMs rated 2700+ and 15 GMs over 2600. Top seed is GM Nikita Vitiugov (Russia).
