The ZMDI Open 2014 was held on 15-23rd August 2014 at the Wyndham Garden Dresden in the city of Dresden, the capital city of the Free State of Saxony in Germany.

The event was a 9-round Swiss Open with first prize in the amount of 2.000 €.

The first place was shared in a four-way tie by Sagar Shah (India), GM Ferenc Berkes (Hungary), GM Tamas Fodor (Hungary) and GM Viacheslav Zakhartsov (Russia) on seven points each, but the Indian untitled player surprised finishing on top and leaving many Grandmasters behind.

Hungarian GM Ferenc Berkes took the silver, while his compatriot GM Tamas Fodor remained third.
