why doesn’t Hydra play?
Hydra is, like Deep Blue, resting in eternal peace.
A pity – it was quite good but may be off the pace now. Don’t think the entry-fee was the problem.
I wonder how Fritz woould have performed if it wasn’t “too busy” to attend.
Which programs do you have, Susan?
“why doesn’t Hydra play?”
Because they know that Hydra would lose against Rybka (don’t believe me? Check out the freestyle games, in which Rybka has defeated Hydra many times). And Hydra being spanked by a PC program like Rybka wouldn’t look good, would it?
“I wonder how Fritz woould have performed if it wasn’t “too busy” to attend.”
Fritz is too ‘busy’ for the same reason Hydra is: They have more to lose than to gain by entering the WC. Fritz would probably score around 50% overall, and get beaten by not only Rybka but also Hiarcs.
Who owns Hydra?
Is it one of those big firms like IBM or intel?
Why not google for “Hydra chess” and you will get all information you want.
