Grischuk vs Mamedyarov very much reminds me of Judit Polgar vs Mamedyarov in Hogeveen a few days ago.
Leko shuld try somethng going for the draw is gutless – Nh5 was an option …

At leat Pono is playing chess … he apears to be better prepared then other…

I hope Leko plays 27. … f4 and shows some guts…

Could anyone explain to me the sacrifice line taken by Grischuk today? It’s been played several times lately, and to me it appears white doesn’t get any real winning chances from it.
From what I understand, the line was more or less buried until Judit reintroduced it in Essent – in a game that showed that it’s possible for white to overplay the position. Since then, white has yet to score any wins with it.
While the positions arising are far from dull, I’m simply wondering why it seems to be in vogue at the top level.
As far as I can tell, the move for Leko was 27..f4
After 27 ..f4 28. Nf6+ (Nxf4? Bxf2+!)
either 28 .. Kh8 with the threat of f3 giving Black a slight advantage in a risky position
or 28. .. Rxf6 29. exf6 f3 30. Rxg7+ Kh8 31. Rxg6 hxg6 32. Qh6+ Qxh6 33. Bxh6 Rc6 with a tiny advantage for Black in a safe position
Ponomoriov is the favourite..
People under estimate his ability.
It was only after topolov becames Ponomoriov seconds that topolov becames Wchamp.
He has even score with Kramnik.
He is strong against any 2700-2750 player. He struggles more with 2600-2700 than he should.
He still young, and has this phases of Improvement, Now maybe is one of them. Last time it was Aronian phase of Improvement.
