RIP Rev. Lindell Brady

Long time Michigan chess player Rev. Lindell Brady passed away, September 23rd 2010.

From Mlive obit:

Rev. Lindell Brady was founding pastor of Grace Emmanuel Church in Flint.

Today, the church has about 1,500 members and a structure with a gym, fellowship hall and sanctuary. Lindell, 86, of Flint, died Thursday from complications from a stroke he suffered earlier in the summer.

In 1960, he became the first black person to win the state chess championship, according to Flint Journal files.

I found many of Rev. Brady’s games in the Michigan Chess Associations Games database and we will be reviewing some at our next club meeting.
