Rf1+ Nf2
Rxf2 with mate on the e file to follow.
xargon
1…Qc7 and hope for something like
2. Qd3 Ra3
I guess. Black looks lost.
Rf1+
Must interpose. If interpose with Knight, RxN+ QxR forced.
Then Qe4++
If Q interposes then Qe4++
Nice
I recognize it from the Gata game! Rf1+, then either …Qf2 Qe4# or …Nf2, Rxf2+ Qxf2, Qe4#.
is this a joke? too easy.
seems like one of kamskys errors.
this looks to me prety much like Gata’s game. 1…Rf1+ 2.Nf2 RxNf2 3.QxRf2 Qe4 +mate
1… Rf1+
2.Nf2 Rxf2+!
3.Qxf2 Qe4#
Copyright: Boris Gelfand! 🙂
greetings from germany to all my friends in Israel.
this looks to me prety much like Gata’s game. 1…Rf1+ 2.Nf2 RxNf2 3.QxRf2 Qe4 +mate
From the top of my head:
1. Rf1+ Nf2
2. Rxf2+ Qxf2
3. Qe4#
Hope I haven’t missed anything.
Cheers
Bernd from Germany

This is a variation based upon the finish of yesterday’s Kamsky/Gelfand candidates match. Rf1+ leads to a forced mate. If the white queen blocks then the black queen mates on e4 and if the Knight blocks then the rook captures the Knight.

Better ask Kamsky.
1 Rf1+ Nf2 (only move) 2 Rxf2 ! Qxf2 3 Qe4#

Hi,
1. Rf1+ Nf2
2. Rxf2+ Qxf2
3. Qe4++
Hi again,
Since it’s black moving, I guess I should notate it
differently eh?:
1… Rf1+
2. Nf2 Rxf2+
3. Qxf2 Qe4++
and since I’m at it, also put:
2. Qf2 Qe4++
Rf1+ Nf2 Rxf2+ Qxf2 Qe4++
Rook to f1 ala Kamsky -Gelfand.
R-F1+ ala Gelfand
1. .. Rf1+
2.Kf3 looses to 2. ..Qc7+
3.Kf2 Qxd8
If 2. Nf2 then white looses to 2. ..Rxf2
3.Qxf2 Qe4#
or
2.Qf2 Qe4#
1) …R-f1+
If
2) N-f2 RxN+
3) QxR Q-e4#
If
2) Q-f2 Q-e4#
The position is similar to the one occurred in the last game Kamski-Gelfand (Elista 2007)
1. … Rf1+

Kamsky Gelfand game
Rf1 leads to mate. I think that is kind of the same position Kamsky got mated in yesterday.
hehe susan…you put in an extra rook for gata…wishful thinking…but it still doesnt help…
Rf1+ wins again
Rf1+, Nf2
Rxf2+, Qxf2
Qe4 Checkmate
Looks a lot like the last game of Kamsky vs Gelfand….

Hi!
1. Rf1+ Nf2 (if …Qf2 then 2. Qe4++)
2. Rxf2+ Qxf2
3. Qe4++
Have a nice day!
1. Rf1+ Nf2 2. Rxf2+ Qxf2 3. Qe4++, cf. Kamsky-Gelfand game 5 for a practical example.
1. … Rf1+
2. Nf2 Rxf2+
3. Qxf2 Qe4#
The pattern here is the king’s 2 escape squares when being checked by the queen. So,…
1. Rf1+ Nf2 (…Qf2? 2.Qe4 mate)
2. Rxf2 Qxf2
3. Qe4 mate
looks familiar…
Patzer sees a check, Patzer plays a check…
Rf1+ Nf2
There’s another check!
Rxf2+ Qxf2
Yet another!
Qe4+
Why did you stop playing?
…Rf1+ 2.Nf2 Rxf2+ 3.Qxf2 Qe4 mate
Looks just like Gata-Boris with extra pieces…
Looks essentially the same as the end of the Gelfand-Kamsky match yesterday.
I thought it odd that nobody had commented yet—but I guess they all got approved at once.
Give this problem to Kamsky… he would not solve it 😉
Wow – 44 answers until now (or perhaps even more?) – and so many times just the same lines.
Want to read once more? 😉
It starts with Rf1+, I hope nobody found it until now and I am the first one to post it. Ah, I wasn’t – that’s a pity.
No more solutions please!
Susan, did you ever have so many equal postings in your blogging time?
Probably this time it was too easy (yes it is ;)) and everybody knows it from yesterday….
Do not take this post too seriously, please!
Greetings
Jochen
heh, I was the only one to not get the answer 1…Rf1+
1… Qc7, what the heck was that.
Depressing, without extra rook it is Kamsky’s final loss to Gelfand. Kamsky should have just taken the pawn on d5 and had a draw and then try to win 6th game.
