Black to move. How would you assess this position? Which side is better? White or Black?

Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Black wins after 1. … Bxb4 2. Qxb5 Nd4 and the white queen is lost.
This is one of those positions that is easy to make it harder than it actually is. Black can just take the knight at g5 since the knight at g4 is immune, but black must capture with the bishop, not the queen:
1. …..Bg5
2. Qg4 Ne5!
Opens a discovered attack on the queen- in fact, it is a double attack on the queen. At this point, white does best to just give her up at g5 since the queen has no safe retreat any longer:
3. Qg5 Qg5
4. de5 de5
And, on net, black is up a queen for a knight and bishop.
Now, does white do better to just decline the knight at g4? White can play 2.Qf3 safely, but has conceded a piece as far as I can tell- I don’t see any counterplay at this point.
1…….Bxg5!! Wins a piece for Black! White has to bite the bullet and play 2.Qf3. Otherwise follows:-
A>2..Qxg4..Ne5! Traps the Queen. Interesting is 3.Rxf7.Kxf7!!!
1…. Bxg5
2.Qxg4 (what else?)
2….. Ne5 white Q is trapped.
Easy new year.
1. Bxb4 Qxb5?
2. Nd4!
Assessment: Black is better!
f4 exf
Qxg5 fxg
Qxg …
Happy new year to all of you!
To Prof. Bhat:
I’m so sorry about the confusion that brought you into a bathroom! My contribution to this was certainly not intended! I hope that by now someone has found a better room for you:-)
About the pricewinning composition, I think Yancey Ward has answered very good.
WHITE?
black bishop kills knight. white loses queen.
pht,
Everything is in a lighter vein ,otherwise what is life?I have the habit of twisting words to weave some funny comments so that I and others also enjoy.Leading a retired life at the age of 71 with no friends at the physical space around me I like the company of e_friends.(Is it because I feel safe with no physical threats for some of my jokes.?)To recollect Luciemarie Ruth may be 2 years back, she was asking why she does not get such tactical positions in her game.I replied to her “Luciemarie, it is because you are not Ruthless” hinting at her surname. She appreciated it very much.I also felt happy since at least I could make somebody happy.
anonymous at 9:23:00 A.M. CST sounds like Nostradamus predictions.
pht,
Did you not notice the board being overturned (black to play) files running from h to a from left to right? I had to check my record of moves again and again before loading online.
Of course Bxb4 makes no sense here, it has to be Bxg5. It seems I must be color blind, but et least I got right who was to play:-)
Sometimes I get that wrong too, and find a brilliant combination for the other side:-)
If white was to play here, I find little alternative to:
1. Qxg4 Ne5
2. Qf4 Bxg5
3. Qf2 Ng4
4. Qf3
and from here it’s unclear to me.
Impossible seemed:
1. Qxf7+? Qxf7
2. Nxf7 Be3+
3. Kh1 Rf8 and Nf7 seems trapped.
Prof Bhat,
I remember that comment by Lucymarie. I think they arise all the time, but the mindset is so different in playing a game vs studying a problem someone has given you. In the latter, you know there is something there to find. I have tried playing games with that mindset at all times, alas, with little success.
pht,
Regarding your comment that someone might have taken me out of bathroom, in fact once you spelt my name correctly, bathroom thought that I did not deserve to be there and kicked me out.
