1. Re8
2. Q:e8 Q:e8
3. N:e8 B:d4+
and black wins.
So white’s only alternative to 2. Q:e8 is to move the Q away from the defense of the Nf6, losing a piece.
re8..threat the queen
1…… Re8!
2. Qxe8 Qxe8
3. Nxe8 Bxd4+ 0-1
If 2. White Queen moves away from e6, White Knight on f6 is lost and Black is a Rook up.
Re8!!
Re8 wins a piece for black
Black is slightly up, with quality for pawn, must maintain and improve this.
White has no obvious counter threat, certainly not Nd7?? Rxf1#.
This should give black plenty of room to “irritate” white pieces, and the first idea that hits me is a really bad one:
1. … Re8??
Truly Nxe8 isn’t possible, but
2. Qxe8!
is, and it seems I’m down with a piece in all lines.
But I can’t stop seeing the pin on Nf6 as a possibility.
My next idea to “irritate” white pieces is:
1. … Rb5!
Simply threatening to sack back quality on d5 for gaining the pinned Nf6 and be up with a full piece.
Quite simple plan, and I have not been able to find a good move for white.
1 re8 2Qe8 qe8 3Ne8 bd4+ 4Rf2 rxr
Re8 seems to win a piece after the queen moves to, say, g4 or h3. The rook cannot be taken either by the knight or queen in view of Bxd4ch.
Re8 !
Very nice!
1. … Re8!! wins
2a. Nxe8 Rxf1 checkmate
2b. Qxe8 Qxe8
3b. Nxe8 Bxd4+
4b. Rf2 Rxf2
5b. h3 Rf8+
6b. Kh2 Rxe8 0-1
2c. Qg4/Qh3 Bxf6 0-1
1…Re8
if 2.Qxe8 Qxe8
3.Nxe8 Bxd4 leads to mate
Re8 looks strong.
The knight on f6-square is pinned, so 1. .. Re8
