The 38th Nezhmetdinov Cup is scheduled to take place from May 31st to June 8th, 2016, at the Central Chess School in Kazan, Butlerova str. 7, Kazan, Russia.It is a stage of the Russian Cup and will be played over 9 rounds under the Swiss system. The time control is 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment. No draw offers can be made before move 41.
The prize fund amounts to 759,000 RUB (approx 10,000 EUR). It will be distributed as follows: 1st – 140,000; 2nd – 110,000; 3rd – 80,000; 4th – 70,000, 5th – 60,000, etc.
There will also be prizes for local players, U-2450 Elo players, women, veterans and juniors.
Last year winner was GM Denis Khismatullin.
A parallel rapid event is scheduled on 29th-30th May, 2014. It will be a 9 round Swiss Open with a time control 15 minutes per player plus 5 seconds per move starting from move one and a total prize fund in the amount of 170,000 RUB.
Last year winner was GM Alexander Morozevich.
