YOUNG chess players have strained their brains and put their skills to the test at an inter-primary school tournament.
Teams from four schools vied for the top spot in the competition final, which was held at Mellons Bay School.
Pigeon Mountain Primary School was declared the winner, led by team captain, Richard Jiang.
Second place went to Mellons Bay School, while third and fourth went to Cockle Bay School and Macleans Primary School.
“The kids just love it,” says organiser Jane Dowdeswell. “They love representing their school.”
