L to R: Marty, Ruy, Marcel and me 🙂
I had a long meeting tonight with GM Marcel Sisniega of Mexico (one of the main organizers of the 2007 World Championship in Mexico City), Ruy Mora (ICC Business Development) and Marty G. (one of the founders and owners of ICC) about putting on a spectacle for chess for the next 15-16 months leading up to the spectacular World Championship! The 4 seated players so far are: Anand, Svidler, Morozevich and the winner of the Topalov and Kramnik match.
I believe that there will be some major cooperation between the Susan Polgar Foundation, ICC and the World Championship Organizers to put on the most incredible event in the history for chess! I am also working to create a national chess training program for 3 levels: Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced. It will be done with voice and perhaps even video on the Internet.
I will update you with all the great news as soon as I have them.
The Susan Polgar Foundation will also assist the organizers of the 2008 Olympiad in Dresden promote that magnificent event. I am trying to rally as many groups as possible to do the right things for chess! I am very hopeful that we will see many positive changes in the near future.
We will not sit back and accept “business as usual” attitude from chess politicians. We will promote chess the right way and I can assure you that we will put the best interests of chess players first, especially young chess players!
Hi Susan,
it is very good that you are doing all these things for chess. Regarding the world championship, what is the status of the candidates matches? I thought they were supposed to take place soon, but there weren’t any announcements, as far as I know.
Sincerely, yours
Martin Bennedik
Susan,
This sounds excellent. Does it look like there will be good visibility for quality Corporate Sponsors? Website, advertisements, extra media coverage and so forth?
