Topalov beats Bacrot
Anand beats Pomo
Kamsky draws with Svidler
Topalov clear 1st, Kamsky and Anand tie for 2-3.
Sorry – 3 way tie with 6 points each! Anand wins and draws in the other two.
Three draws in around 30 moves.
Very sad for me. but here is what I think are the best odds.
Topalov is on a roll and will win
Anand will accept a peaceful draw.
Kamsky will draw in a long struggle.
final postion will be no ties. but 1-2-3

before this started no one thought that Kamsky could come in 2nd place. and 2nd place is very good. but with Kamsky being in first place for awhile, it seems a let down of sorts to get 2nd instead of first.
so lets us celebrate. Kamsky as the lowest rating player in this tournament has done exceptionally well no matter what happens in round 10.
the sleeping giant is waking up.
Being Bulgarian, I hope Topalov wins.
Btw, here is an interesting excerpt from today’s tournament report on the Russian site chesspro.ru:
“Topalov’s manager, Silvio Danailov, told me a story.
During the Wijk-an-Zee tournament, one famous manager (his family Silvio didn’t mention, but do we have many chess managers in the wild?), upon learning that the director of the Sofia tournament is about to invite Kamsky, told him: “Why do you do this? He will take the last place. A big failure. And everybody will laugh at you”. Silvio replied to this specialist on elite-grandmasters: “Unfortunately, you do not understand chess. While I see that Gata has problems with his openings. As soon as he solves these problems, he will play at his previous level. And his level is very high”.
The other manager, Silvio says, laughed laudly and went on.
“Interesting, does this manager laugh now”, smiles Danailov.”
The Olympiad has started!! MTel is old news now!
Topalov is losing with Bacrot. They are all repeating the same openings and variations, as if they had agrred on them before the tournament started. There is no other explanation. I welcome Bobby Fischer’s comments.
Topalow won over Bacrot.
Svidler-Kamsky ended in draw.
Ponomariov and Anand are still fighting it out.
Here’s my prediction:
Final standings:
1 6.5 GM Topalov (Bulgaria, 2804)
2 6.0 GM Kamsky (USA, 2671)
3 5.5 GM Anand (India, 2803)
4 5.0 GM Svidler (Russia, 2743)
5-6 3.5 GM Bacrot (France, 2708), GM Ponomariov (Ukraine, 2738)
