National Master Nick Raptis of Portland Oregon won yet another Portland Chess Club event, the 2009 Spring Open. His score was 4-1, losing to 2nd place finisher Larry Ball of Portland in round 1.

This section of the tournament only drew 9 entrants. The reserve section had 12 players and was won by Kevin McKee also at 4-1. 2nd-3rd place at 3.5-1.5 went to Oregon Chess Federation President David Yoshinaga and Arliss Dietz.

Neil Dale of Portland directed the event. The next major event at the club will be the 3rd Annual Clark Harmon Memorial, April 25-26.
