At least they can eat their chess board if they have to.
Paul Wallace, an Irish player, became champion of Kathmandu many years ago. He went there on holiday, and ended up playing a match against the current champion. He lost the first two games, because they played with no castling or en passant! He had a fantastic time there, including being bumped in the back by an elephant, while walking down the main street. He was robbed by bandits while camping, and penniless, he somehow managed to get home 3 months later.

Hey, don’t knock the nutritional power of chess boards. Especially those made in China. Those boards are made of real chinese citizens who have at least most of the nutrients you need to survive.
