IM Pablo Garcia finished first at the Torneo Internacional Ciudad de Aric 2013 that finished on Saturday in the Chilean city.

The event was held in two playing venues – “Intendencia de Arica” and “Casino Arica” and was organized by the Jaque 64 Chess Club.

The winner of the tournament obtained 7 points in 8 rounds and edged his two closest followers by half a point. Chilean champion FM Pablo Salinas got the second prize thanks to his better tiebreak score. Peruvian Edgar Velasco played above his rating and grabbed the third place.

49 players from Chile and Peru participated in the competition.
