Susan, we’ve said this before. For boards, please stick to the traditional sombre and dull colors; that are easier on the eyes. Geez.
Who the hell is we?
This is a standard traditional chessbase board color you moron.
Keep this color Susan. I like it 🙂
Knight to G5, then H7
1. Ng5++ Kg6
2. Qf7+ Kxg5
3. Qxg7+ Kh5
4. gxh7+ Kg5
5. h4#
Overnight chess tactic
the anonymous between dale and nick got it, i just want to point out he meant 4.Qxh7+ instead of 4.gxh7+ in case anybody is confused
Dear Susan, this puzzle is already on display on early November (somewhere around 6 Nov. 2008, perhaps).
can you tell me why Nd8 doesnt work?
1. Ng5 doesn’t work:
after Qf7 Black is not forced to capture the knight.

Well, actually it works as well as
Nd8+, sorry.
No, it will work only for 1. Ng5+.
1. Ng5+ Kg6 2. Qf7+ Kh6 (2…Kxg5 3. Qxg7+ Kh5 4. Qxh7+ Kg5 5. h4, as somebody already pointed out.) 3. Rh4+ Kxg5 4. Qh5#.
If White plays 1. Nd8 instead, Black can defend with 4…Rh5 in the above line.
