1. c5!
(A) … dxc5 2. Rh4 and there is no 2…Qg1+
(B) … Qxc5 2. Qxf7+ Kh8 3. Rh4+
White would love to play Rh4 with an unstoppable mate threat, except for Qg1+. So 1.c5 is the necessary first move for White, giving the Black Q no good way to counterattack in time while also preventing both Rh4 and Qxf7+. Phil
1. c5! dxc5 (forced)
2. Rh4 and white should win
F4-H4
I’m looking for counterplay after 1. Kg3 but i’m not finding any; i think the right plan is that, indeed.
Some lines are:
1. Kg3 .. Rg1
2. Kh2 followed by Rh4
1. Kg3 .. Qe3+ or Kb3+
2. Kh4-g5-h6
c5 keeping duel threat of Qxf7 and Rh4. Immediate Rh4 no good coz of Qg1+
1. c5
if 1… Qxc5
2. Qxf7+ Kh8
3. Rh4+ wins
if 1… dxc5
2. Rh4-h8 wins
1c5! blocking the diagonal, easy and beautifull
1. c5 leaves Black helpless.
1…Q:c5 2. Q:f7+ with a quick mate.
1…dc 2. Rh4 mates.
1. c5
I would try c4 to c5 with threat rook
to h4
1.c5! does the job.
It threatens Rh4-h8.
if
1…Qxc8
2.Qxf7+ mating soon.
c5!
