Seven players share the lead at the multinational Open Internacional de Sants chess tournament

The strong international GM tournament Open Internacional de Sants is taking place in Spain, 21-30 August 2009. It includes the participation of 270 players from 33 countries, among them over 100 players are titled GMs, IMs, WGMs, FMs, WIMs.

After 4 rounds GM Vyacheslav Ikonnikov, IM Alexander Ipatov, IM David Larino Nieto, GM Omar Almeida Quintana, GM Alexander Fier, FM Mestre, and IM Luc Bergez are leading the general standings, all with 4,0/4. They are followed by a large pack of players with 3,5 points, including GM Vitaly Kunin, GM Grigoriants, etc. Scroll down for full standings.

Secretariat d’Entitats de Sants Hostafrancs i la Bordeta, Catalunya Chess Club, La Cadena Chess Club, Comtal Chess Club and Barcelona City Hall, are the organizer of XI International Chess Open of Sants, Hostafrancs and Bordeta, for players with federative license. This tournament is valid for Catalan, Spanish and FIDE ratings. Open Sants is the last valid for the Grand Prix de Catalunya (Group A espezial).
