1…. d3!
A.
2. cd Qc2+
3. Ka1 Qb1#
B.
2. Nd4 Qc3
3. Kc1 d2+
4. R:d2 Qa1#
C.
2. Q:d3 N:d3 and white can’t even recapture because of Qc2+ and Qb2#.
1…d3!
(2. cxd3 or 2. Rxd3 meets .. Qxc2+ 3. Ka1 Qb2#
Of course, Qxd3 loses the queen.)
2. Nd4 Qc3 (threatening mate at b2)
3. Kc1 d2+! with mate the next move.
Black’s position looks very good. What did white do so far?
On the first glance the simplest win seems to be something like 1. -, d3 2. Nd4 (what else?), Nxf3! winning at least an exchange and additional pawns. White cannot handle Nxg1/Nxd4 followed by dxc2+ and cxd1~. 3. Rg2, Nxd4 won’t help as now the queen cannot recapture.
(1. -, Nxf3 2. Rh1/g4 (if 2. Rf1, Nxh4) looks strong, too, but this needs more calculation tan the given line above.)
Is there something stronger? Is the given line not as strong as I think as there are hidden ressources I have overseen? I’ll see as soon as the other comments are posted. 🙂
Best wishes
Jochen
