Snowdrops who played very well yesterday, sat down to the second round with white stones. At the beginning there were relatively balanced positions, but the games hid many active options. On Sunday, the audience could have seen the best Czech chess player, grandmaster David Navara as a commentator, who firstly shared his impressions from his Saturday’s league game and then started to analyze each game of the match.

“I have fulfilled the task from my captain“, Eva Kulovana, who after 17 moves offered a draw to Rafael Vaganian. The Armenian grandmaster had nothing against.

Boris Gulko and Natalia Pogonina after thirty-seven moves drew their game also and shifted a score to 1:1.

Two remaining games had more than 40 moves. Robert Hübner took over the initiative on the kingside and through his growing chances finally gained a whole point.

Grandmaster Vlastimil Hort had to show a hard defensive technique in a game with Maryia Muzychuk. The endgames of different-coloured bishops mostly result in a draw, but the captain of Oldhands had a handicap in the form of two pawns less. Nevertheless, after five hours the game ended in a draw and set the final score of the second round to 2,5:1,5 for Oldhands.

Results round II.:

Sachdev – Hübner 0-1
Pogonina – Gulko 1/2
Kulovaná – Vaganjan 1/2
Muzyčuk – Hort 1/2
