The 12th Annual Oklahoma Scholastic Championship was held March at Cheyenne Middle School in Edmond. More than 264 players from 67 schools or homeschool associations participated in the competition.

But it was Norman’s Kit Marcotte and Pratik Nehete who both took home the Oklahoma State title in their respective divisions.

Marcotte, a 6th grader at Whittier Middle School, went undefeated and won the title in the 6th-9th grade division. Marcotte beat out 49 other competitors in his division and he will compete in the National Junior High School Championships in Dallas, in April.

Nehete, a first grader at Truman Elementary, shared the K-6 division title with Edmond’s Al Sylvester. There were a total of 75 players in the division, which was the largest at the competition.

Norman’s Madison Elementary School picked up the team state title in the K-4 Premier division.
