The 1st North American Amateur Closed is currently underway at the North Shore Chess Center.

This event is providing opportunities for players to earn an international rating as recognized by FIDE, the World Chess Federation.

Illinois Class Championships

Once again the Illinois Class Championships is upon us on Saturday December 4, 2010. The event will once again be held at the Holiday Inn North Shore in Skokie, IL. Time control will be Game-60 with a 5-sec delay. All equipment will once again be provided so all you have to do is show up, register (or pre-register), and play!

The prize fund will be a guaranteed $2,000 as follows:

Master/Expert – $240-160-100; Top Expert – $160-80
U2000 – $200-100-50
U1800 – $200-100-50
U1600 – $160-80-40
U1400 – $160-80-40
U1200 – book prizes

Unrated must place in the Master / Expert section or U1200 section; Unrated players can only win book prizes in either section.

ICA will pay the entry fee for FIDE titled players (FM IM GM WFM WIM WGM) who list Illinois as their residence on their USCF registration.

Free 90 days added to all players’ ICA memberships. All they need to do is send their name, section, USCF number and contact details to freemembership@il-chess.org.

$30 if you register online at http://www.nachess.org/ilclass by 12/3 @ 6pm or post marked by 11/27; $40 onsite; $10 to play up 1 class; Organizer reserves the right that if an odd number in a section is caused by a player playing up, to move that player into their appropriate section and refund their $10 fee. NO HALF POINT BYES ALLOWED. ZERO POINT BYES ONLY.

Registration: 8:30-9:30am (cash, checks, credit cards accepted on-site)

Round Times: 10:00am, 12:30pm, 3:30pm, 6:00pm (extra 30 minutes provided between Round 2 and 3 for lunch)
