Looks nice though 🙂
Hi Susan,
Nice photo! I am the father of an 11 year chess enthusist from Wisconsin. We have about a dozen good tournaments (mostly open class tournaments) here in Wisconsin. Our rated scholastic opportunities are quite limited. When I review the TLA listings in Chess Life I am awed by the number of tournaments in the NYC area. If one were to travel to NYC for a one week “chess vacation” with an 11 year where would you suggest visiting or is this an idealistic vision of NYC chess that is not reality. Marshall Club? Central Park? Polgar Chess Center? WAshington Square Park? Wilson’s Bookstore?
Dave,
Polgar Chess Center
Marshall Chess Club
I do not recommend Washington Square Park because it is not very safe at times.
Central Park has the Chess and Checker’s House but it is not really a club.
Fred Wilson has a small but nice book store, especially if you like rare or older books.
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar
