Gold’in the Gem City at the Dayton Chess Club

GM Alexander Goldin has joined the Dayton Chess Club and is competing in the 52nd DCC Championship.

This is a ‘trophy’ tournament. I believe it is unique for a World Class GM to be playing in a trophy tournament.

Here his competition is a Life Master, two National Experts, and a number of A and B players – all dedicated amateurs.

GM Goldin loves the Dayton Chess Club – it reminds him of the best of the chess playing halls and clubs in Russia.

But playing in club championship is something NEW AND UNIQUE – and EXCITING.

GM Goldin and the DCC look at his participation as a THEORETICAL NOVELTY.

As a new way for a GM to introduce himself to the community and to BE PART OF the community.

GM Goldin commented after round three (of six) during a discussion with his new fellow club members, “Chess unites all of us.”

Of course GM Goldin hopes to find many new and interested students in the Dayton Chess Club and the DCC area.

His hope is that this THEORETICAL NOVELTY will be beneficial to the club he loves and as well as to himself.

Only time will tell if this TN will prove to be effective and work out, but one thing for sure, it has brought this GM closer to the club players.
