Chess master Joe Hanley (Author of “Have Fun with Checkmates…introducing King Chesster” ) has opened a new Chess Academy in Huntington Beach, California (about 10 miles from Disneyland).
His Grand Opening scholastic tournament drew 43 youngsters. They competed in a Non-Rated/Capture The King tournament or the 5 round USCF rated tournament. The winners were the following:

Joe is planning the following events:
Weekly scholastic classes on Sundays and Wednesdays.

One adult tournament each month. First one is February 2-3, 2008.

Joe is a very nice chess master. I have had the pleasure of playing him on various occasions. He is excellent with children teaching them chess.
