Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Najer took a quick draw in the last round.
You had a thread on draws. The winner took draws in the last 3 rounds. You see this on the cross table.
As long as it is withing the rules to draw and it is to the players advantage then they will draw. The one and only way to stop this is to change the rules of chess to end all draws.
Maybe in 100 years when people get tired of banging their heads against the wall and still have the draw problem someone will say lets change the rules and everyone will agree. Until then the problem will continue.
People complain about Kramnik’s style of play. But he plays for draws withing the rules and he is the World Champion. He makes the most money. What is the problem.
The problem is simple. The rules allow draws.
The solution is simple. Change the rules so no more draws are allowed.
I can not understand why people have problems with this simple idea. Reminds me of the alcoholic who wants to keep drinking alcohol. LOL. And wonders why he wakes up with a hangover.
I will bet a million dollars that if the winner of Moscow was not allowed draws then he would have played to win every game. In fact basically every player will play every game to win. Chess will become a real sporting contest.
Suppose 2 succer teams start the match, but after 35 mins, they agree 0-0, and say they don’t want to continue.. Imagine this happens when Kramnik goes to watch the game, as far as I know he’s very much interested in soccer (do I misremember his interview after 3rd or 4th game of WCC match?)..
I think the news is that Illya Nyzhnyk (UKR) won the open B with 8.5/9 and a performance of 2633. Illya is 10 years old!!!
