This will be Andre Agassi’s last US Open. He will be the fan favorite but I just do not think that he has enough to even reach the semi. I hope he does. I am a fan of his.

This is some of Andre’s accomplishments:

60 Career singles titles won

8 Major singles titles won:

2 U.S. Opens — 1994, 1999
1 Wimbledon — 1992
4 Australian Opens — 1995, 2000, 2001, 2003
1 French Open — 1999

Highest ranking: 1

My pick is Federer over Nadal in the final.

On the women side, things are more complicated. The #1 seed is Mauresmo. The #2 seed is Henin-Hardenne. The #3 seed is Sharapova. Any of them can win on any given day. I am not comfortable with Mauresmo on the biggest tennis stage. She will face Sharapova in the semi if everything goes as planned.

The only threat for Henin-Hardenne in the bottom draw is the #10 seed Davenport. However, Davenport just got injured this past weekend so I am not sure what shape she would be in. Therefore, I pick Henin-Hardenne over Sharapova in the final. Posted by Picasa
