A few years ago, I played against Anna Muzychuk in Calvia, Spain. In an interview on ChessBase, I said that she has a lot of talent and she will soon be a star. Today, she is ranked 22 in the world and #5 among players under 20. She has an outside shot at making the top 10 by the next rating list.

In the recently concluded 3rd Szeged Cup – International Women Championship, Anna finished in a tie for first with IM Nino Khurtsidze of Georgia. They both scored 7.5 / 9! Right behind their heels is Ticia Gara, one of the Hungarian Gara sisters.

Here are the final standings of the top finishers:

1-2 Khurtsidze, Nino 7.5 2414
1-2 Muzychuk, Anna 7.5 2456

3. Gara, Ticia 7.0 2309
