Gata and I fielding questions from members and guests of the Polgar Chess Center in Forest Hills, New York not long ago.
Kamsky – Carlsen [B33]
1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 e5 6.Ndb5 d6 7.Bg5 a6 8.Na3 b5 9.Nd5 Be7 10.Bxf6 Bxf6 11.c3 Bg5 12.Nc2 Ne7 13.Ncb4 0–0 14.a4 bxa4 15.Qxa4 a5 [15…Nxd5 16.Nxd5 Bh6+=] 16.Bb5 Nxd5 17.Nxd5 Be6 18.Bc6 [18.0–0 f5 19.Rfd1 fxe4 20.Qxe4+=] 18…Rb8 19.Ra2 [19.b3 f5 20.exf5 Rxf5=] 19…Qc8 20.0–0 Bd8?! [20…f5 21.exf5 Bxf5= This would have been an interesting option for Black.] 21.b4+= Kh8 22.Rd2 Qa6? I do not understand the purpose of this move. Black should try to get rid of the weak a5 pawn. [22…axb4 23.cxb4 f5 24.b5 fxe4 25.Qxe4+= Small advantage for White but Black should be able to hold] 23.b5± Qa7 24.Qa3 Bxd5? I am not sure why Black wants to give up a pawn for no real compensation. [24…Qc5 25.Ra1±] 25.Qxd6 Be7 26.Qxd5 Rfd8 27.Qa2 Rxd2 28.Qxd2+- a4 29.Qa2 a3? Again, Magnus inexplicably decided to give up another pawn. [29…Kg8 White of course is still better and a pawn up but Black has better chances to hold than what took place in the game.] 30.Qxf7 Rf8?? An immediate losing move as Black will lose a piece. 31.b6! 1–0

Gata has even up the match. They will play the playoff tomorrow.
It’s great to see Gata back in it. Has Gata ever mentioned to you why he made the decision to forego the medical career and return to chess?
Yes, but it is for my ear only 🙂
Best wishes,

So we are into a duel with rapid and blitz. Checked the ICC ratings:
Magnus 3226
Talion 3379
So Gata the fave both in Fide and ICC ratings.
Susan is 3347 on ICC so she would give Kamsky a run for his money.
3347, not bad for a Chess Mom 🙂
Being a Mom is harder…
(at least according to both my wife and my mother!)

I found a company that pays $10 – $50/hr for shopping the classifieds!
Work At Home $10 – $50/hr Easy part/full time work, no boss, no commute, no set hours, paid every 12 days..
I’m making over $500 a day with this company and will be happy to help you do the same.
Hurry postions are filling fast!
Gata
I watched the game on the internet. I was rooting for you all the way. Great Game. You played it wonderfully. you took the advantage early and never wavered. nice win.
I want to say that Grischuk gave you a nice compliment in his interview on the official site. he said
” Before the second game against Gata, …… I looked through his games of 90’s and I felt uneasy a bit: what an extraordinary chess player he used to be! “
I was heart felt when you left chess but the joy returns to my heart with you playing chess again. At first when I heard the rumors I could not believe them.
I was there in Las Vegas when you played in the first Knock Out. was rooting for you then also.
and I would like to add that it is wonderful to see you returning to that form. so now we can all say.
” What and extraordinary chess player you are today. “
I will be there right with you tomorrow. Your game is being watched by many more people that is the top board. the world is on the edge of its chair. Show them the real Gata Kamsky. go deep inside for that inner inspiration. But no matter what the final outcome, You are a winner already in my heart.
Like my new friend Susan says.
” Win with Dignity and Lose with Grace. “
oops had it backward. no problem I will fix that.
” Win with Grace and Lose with Dignity. “
Peace and Love

If you click on the picture for the larger view and look closely into his ear and deep into his brain, you can see he is thinking about a difficult position while fielding questions. Amazing.
First it was Chess Wars: a new hope. Then it was Chess Wars: The Kamsky strikes back. What next? Return of the Carlsen? 🙂
I have to run, I think George Lucas is going to sue me now.
what’s susan’s handle at ICC ? (if I may know)
