Members of Webster University #1 ranked and national champion chess team took part in the July 4th parade earlier this morning in Webster Groves, Missouri. More than 15,000 people lined up on both sides of the nearly 3 mile route to cheer on the marchers.

This is one of the largest 4th of July parades in the state of Missouri, and the tradition goes all the way back to about 8o years ago. Here is the link to about 100 pictures from the parade:

The crowd were loud and enthusiastic as the float carrying the students slowly moved through town. This may be one of the largest recognitions for chess anywhere!
