H6 looks good to me.
Qxe8+ Rxe8 forced
Rxe8 K-f7 forced
b-g6+ K-f6 forced
R-f8+ B-f7
Rxf7+ Q-f7
Bxf7 Kxf7
B vs Rook end game is won for white
1.Qe8 Re8 2.Re8 Kf7 3.Bg6+ Kf6
4.Rf8+ Bf7 5.Ree8!? Only then Rf7+ etc, followed by attack of black’s qside pawns.
There are two main lines to analyze 1.h6 and 1.Qxe8+
If 1.h6 Qf7 (only defense since 1….Bf7
2Q.h7+ Kf8 3.Qxg8+ Ke7 4.Qxg5+ Kf8 5.h7 wins Of course not 1…RxR 2.h7+ Kh8 3.QxR+ RxQ 4.RxR and mates. Another line is 1…Kf8 2.h7 Ke7 3.Qxg5+ Kf8 4.h8(Q) wins easily)
2.Qh7+ Kf8
3.Qh8+ Ke7
4.hxg Kd8 and black holds.
1.Qxe8+ RxQ
2.RxR+ Kf7
3.Bg6+ Kf6
4.Rf8+ Qf7
5.Rxf7+ Bxf7
6.Bxf7 Kxf7
7.c4!…and white should wins since he will play eventually Rd2,Ra2,a5(forcing to trade the b6 pawn) and finally Ra6 and win some of black pawns
Why is the solution not 1.Rxe5 if then …Rxe5 2.Rxe5 and Mate will follow with Qe8 or 1.Rxe5 and …Bxe5 or de5, then Qxe8#
Someone asks:
Why is the solution not 1.Rxe5 if then …Rxe5 2.Rxe5 and Mate will follow with Qe8 or 1.Rxe5 and …Bxe5 or de5, then Qxe8#
Because of Bxe5+. Possible variations:
1. Rxe5? Bxe5+
2. Rxe5? Rxe5 and black is just up a rook.
1. Rxe5? Bxe5+
2. K-moves, mate threats are over and black is up a piece.
