this theme (qg8 and then nf7 mate) has a name. Its philidors mate, or something like that, right?
They are getting too easy…
In Germany this sort of mate is called “ersticktes Matt” [literally translated that is “choked mate”], because the black king’s “air” is taken away by his own figures.

I’ve heard it called Philidor’s
mate. It’s also referred to as
a “smother” mate in English,
which has the same meaning as the
German phrase that Jochen gave.
