I first went as a kid to Budapest in 1975. The City still showed a lot of its war scars from the 1945 and 1956 events. I was fascinated when we looked through the shell holes on the old Citadel. In fact most of the buildings in the old Kings castle, to the North were still being repaired. Two years ago, in the summer of 2005 I visited the area again. There is a nice museum there, but the old walls (on the picture) have been left untouched as a silent witness of history.
