I came to the Billy Jean King National Tennis Center today to watch Martina Navratilova play the women’s doubles quarterfinal match. This will be Martina’s last ever US Open.

Unfortunately, she and Nadia Petrova faced the #1 team in the world (Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur) and the US Open defending champions. Martina still played wonderfully but her double’s partner was not very good today. They lost 7-6, 6-3.

The good news is Martina advanced into the semifinal in the mixed doubles. She and Bob Bryan won by the score of 6-3, 6-4. I got as a gift a signed copy of Martina’s latest book Shape Your Self.

I also got as a gift a signed copy of the Tennis Fundamentals DVDs from Jimmy Connors. This DVD features Chris Evert, James Blake and Justine Henin-Hardenne. I think tennis is a wonderful sport to play to stay fit. I very much enjoy watching good tennis.
