The 10th American Continental Chess Championship was held from 15-24th May, 2015, in the Telecommunications Tower (ANTEL Tower), in Montevideo, the capital and largest city of Uruguay.

The event was organized by the Uruguay Chess Federation (FUA), under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Montevideo Municipality and ANTEL Telecommunications company.

GM Sandro Mareco from Argentina is the crowned American Continental champion.

He started with a perfect 3/3 score and lost in the next round against IM Yago De Moura Santiago from Brazil. However, the champion won four games and drew the rest to finish with 8,5/11 points. The decisive encounter was in the penultimate round when Mareco defeated GM Jorge Cori from Peru with Black pieces.

GM Yuniesky Quesada Perez from Cuba remained second with 8,5 points but a worse tiebreak score, while the third place was shared in an eight-way tie.

The first four players should have qualified for FIDE World Cup, stage of the World Championship circle. Grandmasters Cori, Granda Zuniga and Mareco have already qualified, and so had Quesada Perez, finishing second. Thus, six Grandmasters with 8 points decided the final three spots in 5-round Playoffs with tempo of play  15′ + 5″.

The qualifiers are: Federico Perez Ponsa (Argentina), Eduardo Iturrizaga (Venezuela) and  Anton Kovalyov(Canada).
