Long before Deep Blue, there was a program by the name Chess Genius 3. In August 1994, Chess Genius 3 defeated World Champion Garry Kasparov in a two game rapid match by the score of 1.5 – .5.

I love it!!!. Beautiful retro news. Can anyone enlighten us as to why Kasparov lost that match against a (now we know in retrospective) VERY weak program running on a very weak processor?
Thank you in advance!
Really?? How cool, I didn’t know about this. All one ever hears about is Kasparov and Deep Blue. Thanks for that interesting tidbit.
Excellent piece. How come most don’t know about this? Thanks Susan.
Does anyone have the moves?
Interesting. I found a couple links with some additional info.
