Malaysian Open: 3 joint leaders after 6 rounds

The 6th IGB Dato Arthur Tan Malaysia Open sees a very tense struggle for first place with no clear leader yet in sight nearing the end of the tournament. In round 6, GM Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son beat GM Dzhumaev Marat who was leading in the previous round.

There are now 3 players tied in top position. They are GM Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son, GM Negi Parimarjan and Yu Yangyi.

GM Nguyen Ngoc Troung Son won on the black side of the French defence winning GM Dzhumaev Marat in 28 moves.

Joining Nguc Troung Son in the leading position is 16 year old GM Negi Parimarjan who beat China’s Gao Rui on the White side of a Sicilian.

China’s new talented and untitled Yu Yangyi outplayed GM Ziaur Rahman in a 41 move Sicilian to take a share of the lead.

There are 3 more rounds to go in the Malaysian Open.
