Magnus Carlsen has captured his first Norgewian Championship! After Magnus and Simen Agdestein drew their 2 regular time control games, Magnus won both rapid games for the title! Congratulations to Magnus! I am sure this is his first of many more national titles.
Agdestein had the second game and his 8th title in his hands but he was not able to convert.

It seems as though simen was already lost before this game. He was just down a rook for no compensation. There must be a real psychological effect when a student beats his teacher as he did in the first rapid game. He just couldn’t recover after losing his chances to gain the title in the games before this one.
Congrats, Magnus! But you were a little lucky. 16.-Qxa2!! in the first standard game would have won for Agdestein. And so would f.i. 30. f3 in the second game. Agdestein rarely misses such moves.Aronian willnot be that generous.
