“American Horror Story” star Lily Rabe is set to star in new chess-intensive flick “Pawn Sacrifice“, reports Deadline. The fresh face is to star alongside Tobey Maguire and Liev Schreiber in the film about Bobby Fischer, perhaps the most famous chess player in history.
The film follows Fischer (Maguire) as a pro-chess player during the Cold War while he prepares for an epic chess match with a Russian champion Boris Spassky (Schreiber). Rabe is to star as Fischer’s sister, Joan, in the film. Along with the starring role, Maguire is producing the film with Gail Katz and director Edward Zwick. The film, penned by Steven Knight, begins filming in Montreal next month with the hope of a 2014 debut.
Rabe, who is Tony-nominated for her role in Broadway’s “The Merchant of Venice,” is most recognizable for her screen role in FX’s currently-running series “American Horror Story: Coven” and will be next seen on screen in the third installment of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” as Commander Lyme. She’s also attached to play screen icon Mary Pickford in a big screen biopic “The First.”
