I love chess and I strongly believe in the benefits of chess for people of all ages, especially children. That is why I opened my own Polgar Chess Center in Queens, New York nearly ten years ago.
The second Polgar Chess Center was opened last year in Corpus Christi, Texas and it is thriving.
If you know of a local chess club that needs help or if you live in an area that does not have a chess club (general or scholastic chess club) and you want to do something to help, please let me know. Perhaps I can give you some ideas or help you in one way or another.
Let’s work together for the benefits of chess, one area at the time!
Susan there doesnt seem to be many chessclubs in Chicago or the Chicago suburbian area. Most chessclubs are on the North side of Chicago not that accessible to a large number of people. I think Chicago is a large viable city that needs alot more chess! Do you ever forsee maybe (dream come true); ) opening another Polgar center somewhere in the Chicagoland area?

Dont forget Bobby Fischer was born in Chicago lol

Susan I have another novel idea for you to contemplate. Have you ever given thought of developing your own Susan Polgar play chess internet site? I think with your famous sisters and the many, many, chess professionals and friends you have acquired over the years, you would have quite a lineup, 2nd to none of lecturers, simul chess, tournaments, live broadcasts, and Professionals playing exhibitions to be a huge success! With yearly dues you could raise much needed money for scholastic and womens chess and chess projects in general.
just your ordinary pitchmen,
TFK ; )
In Houston TX there is practically chess instruction for kids, except in a couple of schools that managed to organize good chess clubs. If you don’t go to these schools and can’t afford private instruction, you don’t become good in chess. Some private instructors aren’t any good either, as we found out. I always read with appreciation about the events organized for the best scholastic players, but accept with resignation that most kids I know will never qualify since their parents have tried and mostly failed to arrange instruction and sufficient playing opportunities.
Sorry, I meant in Houston there is practically NO instruction.
