Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
The Russians want to stop Aronian and Carlsen, Raj of course wants to stop Aronian and perhaps favours the Russians over Carlsen and so on…
The last candidates may have been boring, but inevitably fair play prevailed. This just might end up as unfair at best. Ask the ghost of Bobby Fischer!.
“Jesus sent his people out as sheep among wolves. How many wolves have ever been killed by a sheep?
To Anon 12.59. Haha, love your use of the words “of course”. It just stands to reason “of course” that if someone is Azerbaijani it is a certainty that they will renounce their professionalism and deliberately cheat and throw games to hinder the Armenian!
By all means consider the conspiracy theory, but please lets do it in a balanced way and examine the games for evidence of match-fixing. Regional national enmities don’t necessarily take precedence over everything else in a pro sportsman’s decision making.
Enough of the “Russians will collude to stop anyone else” stuff.
Bobby is dead and his accusations are old news.
Magus is inevitable. Everyone else is afraid to chance losing…because Carlsen doesn’t.
I completely agree. Grischuk losing to Kramnik seems pre-arranged to me. The Russians would rather edge out Carlsen and have Kramnik win the tournament.
Wow! I wonder what Bobby Fisher will say if he is still alive.
Looking back it is interesting to note that most candidates are from the former USSR except of course for Carlsen.
Good going Vlady !
