The first encounter of Komodo 9.2 and Stockfish will take place today at 11:00 CET. The two finalists from last year meet each other in Stage 2 of the Top Chess Engine Championship TCEC.
Last year’s battles between Komodo and Stockfish hit major scientific and mainstream media , including The Wall Street Journal publications. This year even bigger interest is to be expected, as the two engines have developed a lot over the past 12 months.
The game Komodo – Stockfish will be a first test as to where the two engines stay, and will be of high importance in determining the final standings of the stage. Currently Komodo and Stockfish are shared and undisputed leaders in the standings. They are at the top position with 8,0/10, having four draws and eight wins each. Besides, they have a game less than the closest competitors, Houdini with 7,0/11 and Gull 6,0/11.

Stage 2 consists of the 12 engines that qualified from Stage 1. It is a double round robin. The top 6 move on to Stage 3 while the rest are out of TCEC for the current Season.
For Stage 2, the time control is 120 minutes + 30 seconds added per move for the whole game.
