On February 20 the FIDE President arrived on an official visit to Mongolia. The same day in Ulan Bator he met with the President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorg. The Presidents discussed the development of chess sport in Mongolia, in particular, the memorandum on development of chess in the country prepared by the Mongolian Chess Federation. According to this Memorandum Mongolia intend to tender for the right to host 2017 World Chess Cup and 2018 World Chess Olympiad. The Mongolian President confirmed the intention of the country to organize these two major events in Ulan Bator.

Kirsan Ilyumzhinov noted that the meeting was held in a friendly and warm atmosphere and presented to Mongolian President a chess set made of rare sort of Karelian birch. The meeting concluded with the game of two presidents. FIDE President shared on his twitter page, “President of Mongolia plays like a real politician, very cautiously, but forcefully and confidently.”

Also the meetings in the country’s parliament and administration of Ulan Bator are planned.
