1.Qc2 seems obvious, but I think white wins easily with many other moves, too.
1. Qc2
And black can’t guard both c8 and the knight by moving the queen who is under attack herself.
Qxg7 Qb8
Qe7
White can take the pawn on g7 and that seems clearly winning to me, that seems to obvious though.

Good. I haven’t seen the game yet. 1. Qe5 looks strong. 1. Qc2 may be just as good perhaps.
Continuing after 1. Qe5
1. .. Qb4

I have already seen the game.Hou made excellent move 1 Qc2 .This hits the nail on the head. One can see that black’s back rank is weak. Both Q and R are tied down to c8.1Qc2 attacks N as well. The only square for black Q to protect both is b7 but it is attacked by white R.1… Qb6 does not hold as black N is captured with check.
Hou played Qc2 and with a simple win,
H-bomb would play the Qe5 and nuke black.
what about Qa5
what about Qa5
Qc2, Qd5 , Rc8 check
or
Qc2, Qb8,Qxe4 check
I dont agree with Qxg7 because the threat is not immediate.
Dear Lucymarie,
I do not agree with 1 Qe5 since it dilutes attack on c8.1 Qc2 is “the” move.
1Qc2 Qb4
can he survive with this move since c8 is still protected.
2Rc8+ Rc8
(2… Kb7
3Qc7+ Ka6
4Qc6+ Ka5
5Rxd8 and black is R down with no counter play)
3Qxc8+ Qb8
4Qc6+ Qb7
5Qe8+ Qb8
6Qxe4+ Qb7
7Qxb7+ white easily wins.
