Kambuzia Unanimously Elected President of Iran Chess Federation

Mohammad Jafar Kambuzia was unanimously elected President of the Iranian Chess Federation. Kambuzia was former president of the Iranian Chess Federation from 1996 till 2003. A civil engineer by profession, he erected over 30 chess buildings in major cities around Iran. In Tehran he built the Iran Chess Palace, a big complex for chess including the headquarters of the federation, tournament halls, libraries, lecture rooms and a sport hotel.

Kambuzia was elected yesterday by a vote of 42 to zero, by member clubs, against another candidate. Among the many events he organized, Kambuzia brought the final Anand-Shirov World Chess Championship 2000 to Tehran.
