I hope Ivanchuk will win every game to show FIDE.
And what exactly will he show by this?
That he is doped???
ha ha!
where can I see the live games? I have trouble navigating the non-english site
There are no known illegal/prohibited substances which have been shown to improve a chess players ability (fish or ginko for memory perhaps?)
I am tired of FIDE trying to get chess recognised as an olympic sport. The olympics have become a drug ridden fest similar to cycling. Why would we want to be associated with such rubbish.
Fair enough hidden computers have been shown to facilitate cheating and I would not object to being scanned or whatever to make sure they were’nt being used.
This drug testing is absolutely irrelevant and should be stopped. I understand those who say “well the law says ….” – but sometimes the law is wrong and a stand needs to be taken.
That’s good news- that he will play- for it means he is not yet banned.

I’m not sure this it true. Modafinil has been shown to improve memory and alertness, which during a long tournament could be a distinct advantage.
I have not heard of anyone using it in the chess world, but I would be amazed if a few hadn’t tried it.

FIDE can only ban him from their events. Everyone else will still invite them to their tournaments.
