Brunello family – Roberta (19), GM Sabino (21), WIM Marina (16)

Chess greetings from Italy!

Italy has a new young Grand Master, Sabino Brunello, 21 years old.

It is surely an effect of the example by Fabiano Caruana (and also Daniele Vocaturo) also if Sabino is not a professional player, but he is a student at University.

As matter of curiosity, Sabino is the elder vrother of 2 sisters: Marina, 16 years old, who is Woman International master (the first Italian to get this title after the Second World War) and Roberta, 19 years old (Roberta was Italian women champion in 2006 and last week got the 3rd place in the Italian championshipo, winning the title under 20)

Sabino Brunello got the GM title in the tournament of Castione/Bratto that was won by GM Burmakin (7 out of 9). Then (2-6) GMs Landa, Dziuba, Chatalbashev, Kovalyov and Cebalo 6.5. A group of 10 players follow at 6 points and amomg them Brunello.

Standings of the Italian women championship 2010:

1. Maria De Rosa (Naples) 7.5/9; 2. Tiziana Barbiso (Turin) 7; 3. Roberta Brunello (Milano) 6.5; 4. Marianna Chierici (Reggio Emilia) 6.5; 5. Maria Teresa Arnetta (Palermo) 6.
