Indian River County Chess Club
Dedicated to promoting fun, friendship and learning through chess
Welcome to the Indian River County Chess Club
We changed our name in 2006 to reflect the merger of the old Vero Beach and Sebastian Chess Clubs. Our goal is to promote fun, friendship and learning through chess. We are an affiliate of the United States Chess Federation (USCF), the not-for-profit body of organized chess in the United States, and of the Florida Chess Association, which is the federation’s statewide affiliate.
All chess players are welcome to join us. Our members range from beginners to expert and from casual players to experienced tournament participants. Equipment is provided. Currently there are no fees except for tournaments. USCF membership is not required to join the club, only for rated play. The only thing we insist on is that a friendly, cordial atmosphere be maintained, including a common level of respect and courtesy toward other club members and the library’s staff.
We owe a debt of gratitude to the Indian River County library system. They provide us with space to play, teach and store our equipment. Our library contact person in the Indian River County Main Library is Marla Goodman at 772 770-5060. Our library contact person in North Indian River County Library is Krista Pappas at 772 589-1355.
