The 50th National Premier Chess Championship is set to take place from 1st to 14th October, 2012, in Kolkata. The Championship is organized by the Dibyendu Barua Chess Academy & Allsport Management, on behalf of All India Chess Federation and under the aegis of West Bengal Chess Adhoc Committee.

The Championship will be played under FIDE Laws of Chess and under Swiss system. Total prize fund is Rs. 5,00,000/-

As India has been given single zone status, the players to qualify for World Cup will be identified from this Championship.

Irrespective of the number of entries the tournament will be of 13 rounds Swiss system with one round per day. The following players are eligible to participate:
 

a) All Grandmasters
b) Top 6 from National Premier, 2011 (Including Grandmasters)
c) Top 30 from National Challengers, 2012
d) National Junior Boys Champion , 2011
e) National Junior Girls Champion, 2011
f) Top 2 from National Women Premier, 2011
g) Top 2 from National Under 25 Championship, 2012
h) Two nominees of AICF Secretary
